The state of Sonora registered the highest growth in the manufacturing industry in the northern border during June 2024, compared to June 2023, with an increase of 7.3 %, which places the state as a national benchmark for economic development in the field of industrial production, said Governor Alfonso Durazo
Montaño.
The state chief executive indicated that, according to the monthly industrial sector indicators report of the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), Sonora continues to be the state with the highest contribution to the country’s manufacturing production and the state with the highest growth in the
northern border during the last period.

“The good news is that we managed to keep Sonora as the leading entity in the entire northern border in manufacturing industry growth, strengthening the development of Sonora’s economy and promoting more and better jobs,” said the governor.

It is worth noting that Sonora stands out in the economic sector, as according to INEGI indicators, the national manufacturing industry stagnated momentarily, while the Sonoran entity contributed to the growth of the country’s manufacturing activity.

The INEGI report highlights that Sonora presented an increase of 7.3%, above all the northern border states, where Baja California grew 1.6% and Tamaulipas 1.4%; on the contrary, Chihuahua decreased -0.3% and Nuevo Leon -1.1%.
