Governor Durazo boosts clean energy investment in partnership with California

As part of his working tour in California, the Governor of Sonora, Alfonso Durazo Montaño, met with Jennifer Barrera, President of the California Chamber of Commerce, to strengthen investment opportunities in sustainable energy, electromobility, and technological development in the region, while promoting the advantages of the Sonora Sustainable Energy Plan.

During the meeting, the state’s chief executive highlighted projects related to clean energy generation, electromobility infrastructure, and semiconductor production. He emphasized that Sonora, with its privileged location and vast renewable energy potential, is a key destination for investment and the development of new industries.

“Sonora is the gateway to a new era of sustainable development. With the Sonora Plan, we are creating the conditions to attract investment in innovative projects that not only benefit our people but also strengthen the regional economy in North America,” he stated.

Additionally, the Sonoran governor met with state congressional leaders, including the Speaker of the California Assembly, Robert Rivas, and Senate President Pro Tempore, Mike McGuire, as well as assembly members from the California Latino Caucus and Juan Carrillo, Vice Chair of the Latino Caucus.

In these meetings, the governor promoted dialogue and cooperation to address common challenges in trade, investment, education, and energy development. He also reaffirmed Sonora’s commitment to building strategic alliances that drive innovation and prosperity on both sides of the border. With this tour, Sonora strengthens its leadership in clean energy, electromobility, and technological innovation, consolidating binational cooperation as a driving force for regional development.
