Sonora stands out as the leading state in the northern border of the country with the highest labor growth at the end of 2023, registering a four percent increase in the number of occupied jobs in the region, indicated Governor Alfonso Durazo Montaño.
The state governor detailed that, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), in the last quarterly balance of 2023, said increase was reported, and because of the arrival of foreign direct investment, more and better job opportunities have been formalized for the people of Sonora.
‘’We are the state with the highest economic growth, for the first time in decades, across the entire border, with the highest foreign investment across the entire border, the highest economically active population across the entire border, and the highest reduction in informal labor across the entire border,” expressed the Governor of Sonora.
He recalled that, nationally, Sonora is the second-largest recipient of foreign investment, only below Mexico City and the highest across the entire border.
He emphasized that the Sonora Government is a facilitator of investment and reaffirmed the commitment to create conditions for workers to have improved jobs and fair wages.
