Sonora recorded its best start in history, with a 12.6 percent increase in manufacturing industrial activity during January 2024 compared to January 2023, placing the entity in third place nationally in this economic sector, according to the State Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), reported Governor Alfonso Durazo Montaño.
According to INEGI’s results, Sonora maintains leadership in the border region with economic growth in the state, through industrial activity, which overall records a 6.2 percent increase in the year-on-year variation in January of this year, compared to January 2023.

In manufacturing activity, the state continues to grow significantly, positioning itself only below San Luis Potosí, which recorded a year-on-year increase of 15.4 percent, and Oaxaca, 20.4 percent.
Meanwhile, Sonora is the second state with the second largest increase in the contribution of the total variation of the country’s manufacturing industrial sector. According to these indicators, Sonora maintains a constant growth rate as recorded in 2023.
