Continuing to strengthen the Port of Guaymas, as well as the Sonora Plan, building and expanding highways, and promoting the arrival of passenger trains, will mark the next phase of the Fourth Transformation, announced Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, President-elect of Mexico, during the inauguration of National Port System projects, led by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
“Continuity, because we will continue strengthening the Port of Guaymas; we will finish the highway to Chihuahua, the first stage has already been completed, the second, and now we will continue with the next stage, not just what has been resolved so far; and the other one is from Bavispe to Nuevo Casas Grandes, we will also build that road. And we will keep strengthening the Sonora Plan, which is the industrial and educational development, linked to the Port of Guaymas”, she said.

Passenger Trains Will Arrive in Sonora
Additionally, in front of the people of Sonora, the President-elect announced that under her government, passenger trains will arrive in Sonora. To this end, a new piece of land will be designated for the Secretary of the Navy in Empalme to expand the Port of Guaymas, enabling the realization of railways in the state.
“There’s a piece of land in Empalme that belonged to the National Railways. Well, I’m announcing now that we will give this land to the Navy so that the Port of Guaymas can continue expanding, but with an added benefit. Just as the President launched social programs and revived railways in the south for Mexicans, now we will head north, and we’ll extend the railway all the way to Nogales”, she explained.

She highlighted that the continuity of Sonora’s Transformation will be ensured through the great teamwork she will undertake alongside the current governor of the State, Alfonso Durazo.
“All of this will be done here with the Governor, whom we appreciate deeply, Alfonso Durazo; he is a great governor, a first-class partner, and we will continue working for the people of Sonora”, she emphasized.

In this same sense, Claudia Sheinbaum emphasized that her government will consolidate the achievements of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, starting with the Welfare Programs to which three new supports will be added: a pension for women from 60 to 64 years old; a scholarship for students from preschool to middle school; and a door-to-door health program for the elderly.
“We won’t just consolidate what already exists, which would be enough on its own, but we’ll go further. We will launch three more programs: One, support for all women aged 60 to 64… The second program—currently the President supports all underprivileged children with a scholarship to attend public school—now, we will make that scholarship universal, meaning all children attending public preschool, elementary, and middle schools will receive a monthly scholarship, to support all families with children in school… And the third program is a complement to the Pension for the Elderly. We will hire doctors, nurses, and healthcare workers to visit the homes of elderly people and provide them with healthcare at home”, she added.
Continuing the Fourth Transformation
Finally, she pointed that continuing the Fourth Transformation also means continuing to defend democracy and the rights of all Mexicans, which will be achieved through the fulfillment of the constitutional reforms contemplated in Plan C, including the reform of the Judiciary.

“What does ‘Plan C’ mean? Several constitutional reforms that have to do with strengthening the Welfare Programs and one very special one… Democracy; democracy to elect the President, democracy for the legislators, and also democracy for the Judicial Power, so that it becomes a Judicial Power that serves the people”, she concluded.
On his part, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador highlighted that with Claudia Sheinbaum, Mexicans will continue to have a government whose main objective is to consolidate a policy of transparency and not corruption as was the case during the neoliberal period, which he assured will be the key for Mexico to soon have the best leader in international history.
“Let material things not dominate us, let money not be our goal, because happiness is not money, happiness is not titles, fame, happiness is being at peace with oneself, being at peace with our conscience, and being at peace with our neighbor, that is the most important thing… And I am very pleased to be here with Claudia, to tell you that this policy will continue. Claudia, I repeat, will not only be the best President of Mexico, very soon she will be the best President in the world”, he assured.
Present at the inauguration of the National Port System projects were also Alfonso Durazo Montaño, Constitutional Governor of the State of Sonora; Admiral José Rafael Ojeda Durán, Secretary of the Navy (SEMAR); Juan Pablo de Botton Falcón, Undersecretary of Expenditures of the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP); Vice Admiral José Daniel Reséndiz Sandoval, Commander of Naval Region 6; Rear Admiral Víctor Manuel Ozuna Díaz, General Director of Port Promotion and Administration; Rear Admiral Rogelio Bello Aguilar, General Director of ASIPONA Guaymas; and Karla Córdova González, Municipal President of Guaymas.
