Guaymas and Obregón airports complement the potential of the Port of Guaymas: Alfonso Durazo

Together, the airports of Guaymas and City of Obregón will become a logistical entity that, along with the Port of Guaymas, will enable the economic and industrial growth of the state, declared Governor Alfonso Durazo Montaño.

The Sonoran governor held a meeting with Admiral Juan José Padilla Olmos, director of the Mexico City Airport Group, where he confirmed that the Navy Secretariat is already in charge of both airports, and the state is now a partner in the operation of both facilities.

“The idea is to create an entity with the goal of managing the airports of Guaymas, Obregón, and the port with an integrated business vision. That is the objective. The president proposed it as a decentralized company managed by the Navy, and it is our responsibility to give it a legal framework in the most suitable form for that purpose,” he stated.

For the Obregón city airport, the expansion of the airstrip is planned, while for the Guaymas airport, the adaptation of facilities for customs and immigration offices is contemplated.

Recently, the Guaymas-Loreto air route was inaugurated, once again demonstrating the relevance of port connectivity in promoting tourism development and achieving optimal utilization of all its potentials.
