Governor Durazo supports the creation of the National Semiconductor Design Center “Kutsari”: UES

To coordinate efforts in support of the national project Kutsari, aimed at developing Mexico’s semiconductor industry, academics and researchers from Sonora met with the project’s national coordinator, Edmundo Gutiérrez Domínguez, reported Martha Patricia Patiño Fierro, Rector of the Universidad Estatal de Sonora (UES).

During the meeting, Gutiérrez Domínguez presented the scope of the project, promoted by President Claudia Sheinbaum, and highlighted how universities can contribute to training highly specialized personnel and advancing research in semiconductors and materials science. He also emphasized the importance of academic and scientific collaboration in strengthening the sector.

Patiño Fierro underscored the agreement among participating universities to maintain a constant and constructive dialogue to integrate into the project and contribute to its various phases through a collaborative approach that drives the growth of the semiconductor industry in Sonora and at the national level.

The meeting, held at UES, also included the participation of Diego Alberto Avilés Quintanar, Executive Coordinator of the Sonora State Council for Sustainable Development (Codeso), who outlined the relationship between the Sonora Plan, promoted by Governor Alfonso Durazo, and the Kutsari project—both strategic initiatives for the development of the state and the country.

Academics and researchers from UES, the Universidad de Sonora (Unison), the Instituto Tecnológico de Hermosillo (ITH), and the Instituto Tecnológico Superior de Cajeme (Itesca), with experience in the semiconductor and integrated circuits industry, were also in attendance.
