Governor Durazo promotes sustainable mining and automotive projects through Plan Sonora

In coordination with the projects that have already landed in the state, attracted by the Sonora Sustainable Energy Plan, Governor Alfonso Durazo Montaño, together with the Government of Mexico, is promoting strategies for the sustainable use of mining activity in the state and the development of an environmentally friendly economy, through plans such as the Olinia Mexican electric vehicle model, which will be manufactured in Sonora.

The state governor met with Fernando José Aboitiz Saro, head of the Extractive Activities Coordination Unit of the Ministry of Economy, to follow up on extraction projects in the state, as well as the use of waste water in this activity, in accordance with the exploitation of essential minerals such as copper for the materialization of the Sonora Plan.

Together with Francisco Acuña Méndez, executive president of the Council for the Sustainable Development of the State of Sonora (Codeso), the state governor also followed up on the Olinia electric vehicle construction project, promoted by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, which will be built in the state and will strengthen the entity as a sustainable development hub.

Governor Durazo Montaño emphasized that the Sonora Sustainable Energy Plan seeks to add value to primary production for the well-being of Sonora’s families, where mineral resources extracted in the state are used in the territory, as in the case of the Olinia electric vehicle assembly project.
