As a result of his recent economic promotion work tour in Taiwan, Governor Alfonso Durazo Montaño promoted the state to executives of the Foxconn company to establish an Electromobility Ecosystem in the state, to leverage the sustainable development that has been strengthened over the past three years through the implementation of the Sonora Sustainable Energy Plan.
The state governor mentioned that he met with the executive team of Foxconn, the largest manufacturer in the world, which has investments in Mexico amounting to 244 million dollars, to present the competitive advantages that Sonora offers for the development of electromobility, particularly in the areas of electric buses, electric vehicles, and battery manufacturing.
Governor Durazo mentioned that there is an established work plan with this company for Sonora to develop businesses in the electromobility and semiconductor industries, aligned with sustainable development.
‘’A business mission from Foxconn is coming to Sonora in february; this is one of the first agreements we have. They are coming to learn about the state and verify all the comparative advantages we presented to them in our presentation. If any of these projects materialize, it would obviously transform the state, giving it extraordinary advantages in electromobility, specifically for battery manufacturing and electric vehicle production, which are by far the economy of the future,” he said.
Francisco Acuña Méndez, president of the Council for Sustainable Development of the State of Sonora (Codeso), mentioned that during this work tour, a meeting was also held with a group of 30 young people from Sonora who are training in electromobility and semiconductors in Taiwan. With their talent, they become ambassadors, both abroad and in the state, when any of these companies decide to establish themselves.
