Government of Sonora Strengthens Alliance with NADBank to Promote Sustainable Infrastructure on the Northern Border

The Sonora Sustainable Energy Plan continues to establish itself as an international benchmark by forging strategic alliances with high-impact organizations. As part of this vision, Governor Alfonso Durazo Montaño signed a memorandum of understanding with John Beckham, General Director of the North American Development Bank (NADBank), to promote sustainable infrastructure on the state’s northern border.

This agreement aims to promote investments in projects aligned with the energy transition and sustainable development, in coordination with academic institutions and specialized organizations.

“We signed a memorandum of understanding to work on key environmental initiatives for the state of Sonora. I appreciate the support of NADBank, which has historically been a key player in improving the environmental conditions of the border,” emphasized Governor Durazo”

For his part, John Beckham, General Director of NADBank, emphasized that this synergy will help attract investments in infrastructure with high standards of quality and sustainability.

“The bank’s goal is to support border communities in Mexico and the United States by investing in the necessary infrastructure to ensure well-being and prosperity. This is just the beginning of a great collaboration,” he stated

As an honorary witness, Alicia Bárcena Ibarra, Secretary of the Environment and Natural Resources, highlighted the key role of binational institutions in the development of the border region.

“Mexico has strong binational organizations, and one of them is NADBank. It is an honor to witness this agreement, which will significantly c’ontribute to the sustainable development of our border,” she concluded.
