Authorities from the Government of Sonora presented four priority projects for the state to President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, seeking her support during her federal administration to continue advancing in the areas of infrastructure, natural resources, clean energy, and mobility for the benefit of the people of Sonora.

One of the projects is the Guaymas – Chihuahua highway, with an investment of 8,858 million pesos. Its purpose is to provide a modern, efficient, safe, and high-quality communication route that promotes the reduction of travel times and costs, making Guaymas the export port for the manufacturing, agricultural, and industrial production of Chihuahua to Asia.

Another major project is the water supply infrastructure program for Hermosillo, with an allocation of 6,879 million pesos. This project aims to build hydraulic infrastructure for the optimal use of surface and groundwater from the Sonora and San Miguel rivers, guaranteeing the water supply for the state capital for the next 20 years.

Photovoltaic plants
The new photovoltaic plants are another project presented to President-elect Sheinbaum, with an investment of 95,760 million pesos. The main objective is to decarbonize the Mexican economy, offering competitive advantages for the relocation of companies and more clean electricity to attract higher-quality investments.

Lastly, the BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) Project for Hermosillo and Ciudad Obregón was presented, with an investment of 2,989 million pesos. It consists of establishing an efficient and modern transportation system for the cities of Hermosillo and Ciudad Obregón. This will be achieved through dedicated lanes (where infrastructure permits) and stations that ensure the safety of users.
