Goverment of Sonora and FOXCONN Strengthen cooperation in electromobilityand automation

As part of the Sonora Sustainable Energy Plan, the Government of the State of Sonora and Foxconn, a global leader in electronic manufacturing, continue strengthening a strategic alliance to promote the development of smart cities and related industries.

In last January, Governor Alfonso Durazo Montaño undertook a work tour in Taiwan, where he held a key meeting with Foxconn’s president, Young Liu. During the meeting, the commitment to collaboration was reaffirmed to make Sonora a hub for innovation and advanced technology manufacturing, aligned with the opportunities offered by the global transition to clean energy and new forms of mobility.

During his visit, Governor Durazo learned about the application of the security and mobility model that Foxconn implements in the city of Kaohsiung, Taiwan’s main export port.

As a result of this partnership, 30 young engineers from Sonora have completed intensive internships at Foxconn’s facilities in Taiwan, focusing on strategic areas such as automation, electromobility, and advanced manufacturing. This initiative is part of the Student Mobility Program.

Governor Alfonso Durazo has reiterated that this effort not only strengthens the capabilities of Sonora’s youth, but also opens the door to new opportunities for investment, employment, and economic growth, aligning Sonora with global trends in clean energy and sustainable mobility.
