Executives and authorities from native tribes in Arizona learn more about the Sonora Plan

Governor Alfonso Durazo Montaño met with more than 30 business leaders and authorities of different tribes from Arizona, where he explained the aspects of the Sonora Sustainable Energy Plan, to present the advantages and economic development that Sonora is experiencing, in search of attracting more investment to the state.

Historic meeting, at the Consulate General of Mexico in Phoenix, with the authorities of the San Carlos Apache Tribe, White Mountain Apache, Tohono O’odham Nation and Ak-Chin Indian Community.

The state governor emphasized that, today more than ever, Sonora is currently experiencing a period of full economic development, because of the Sonora Plan, which has been promoted by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, and which now President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum has taken on as her own project, which means that it will have support for six more years.

During the historic meeting at the Consulate General of Mexico in Phoenix, with the authorities of the San Carlos Apache Tribe, White Mountain Apache, Tohono O’odham Nation, and Ak-Chin Indian Community, Governor Durazo Montaño highlighted that in Sonora, Justice Plans are being implemented. These plans, initiated by President López Obrador and the Government of Sonora, address the demands of the various indigenous people of the region, giving them the recognition they deserve.

The chief of staff indicated to entrepreneurs from various sectors that the privileged location and strategic logistics, economic boost, as well as the Modernization of the Port of Guaymas and the Guaymas-Chihuahua highway, are fundamental to strengthening the relationship between Sonora and Arizona, which historically have a close bond due to their culture, social, and economic ties.

Kasey Velasquez, president of the White Mountain Apache Tribe, described the meeting as historic, as they were considered and highlighted the opportunity to establish alliances and projects in Sonora soon.
