With the goal of strengthening education, research, and the semiconductor value chain, Governor Alfonso Durazo Montaño signed a framework agreement between the InnovaBienestar agency, the Secretariat of Science, Humanities, Technology, and Innovation (SECIHTI), and the University of Sonora for the development of the “Kutsari” Design Center, as part of the outcomes of the Sonora Sustainable Energy Plan.
The state governor stated that this agreement lays the foundation for fulfilling the priority research project of President Claudia Sheinbaum, in which Sonora plays a key role in the production of high technology and the design of tools for sustainable development.
“With the Sonora Plan and strategic projects like ‘Kutsari,’ we continue positioning Sonora at the forefront of Mexico’s technological revolution. With the signing of this agreement, we are strengthening education, research, and the semiconductor value chain,” the governor said.
The “Kutsari” Semiconductor Design Center is an initiative of the Government of Mexico, led by SECIHTI, to develop the semiconductor industry in the state of Sonora.
During the signing ceremony, Governor Durazo and Secretary Rosaura Ruiz highlighted that Sonora has the capabilities and talent to design chips and consolidate their industrial-scale production.
The Center will have a significant impact on the regional semiconductor industry, as well as boost training, research, and innovation for the design and development of these key components of the industry.
