With an annual growth rate of 9.1% in the generation, transmission, distribution, and commercialization of electric power, as well as in water and natural gas supply, Governor Alfonso Durazo Montaño is positioning Sonora as a national model for energy development, placing the state in the top 10 for industrial activity in Mexico.
Governor Alfonso Durazo Montaño highlighted that, in February 2025, Sonora ranked seventh among the states with the highest industrial development, strengthening the economy and generating better job opportunities, according to the Monthly Indicator of Industrial Activity by Federal Entity (IMAIEF) from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).
“This achievement is the result of joint efforts and hard work toward the transformation of Sonora, to continue building a strong and competitive state,” stated Governor Alfonso Durazo Montaño.
In addition, Governor Durazo highlighted the 2.8 percent increase in mining activity, which places the state 13th nationwide, reaffirming his commitment to the region’s high-potential industries, which translates into improved well-being for Sonoran families.
Data from INEGI shows an additional increase in the construction sector, with a 0.4 percent growth. As a result, Sonora maintains its position within the national economic framework, supported by the state’s industrial sectors.
