Governor Durazo’s leadership achieves the lowest unemployment rate in Sonora’s history

Sonora reached its lowest unemployment rate on record in March 2025, with a historic minimum of 1.3% of the labor force unemployed, Governor Alfonso Durazo Montaño announced, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).

The state’s chief executive emphasized that this figure—lower than the 1.9% recorded in the same month of 2024—positions the state as the fifth lowest in unemployment in Mexico and the first in the entire northern region of the country.

“This historic low in our state’s unemployment rate reflects a situation of full employment—an economic condition in which virtually all active job seekers find work—which translates into greater stability, consumption, and well-being for the people of Sonora,” he stated.

The governor stressed that this achievement not only consolidates the state as a hub of economic growth but also reflects the strengthening of its internal market and investor confidence.
