Governor Durazo positions Sonora as number one in streamlining procedures along the northern border

Sonora has become the top-ranked state along Mexico’s northern border in streamlining administrative procedures, advancing from 13th to 9th place nationally. This improvement is the result of initiatives led by Governor Alfonso Durazo Montaño focused on regulatory improvement and administrative efficiency.

Since the beginning of his administration, the governor has emphasized reducing bureaucratic red tape, making it easier for citizens to access services and social programs. Through the State Commission for Regulatory Improvement (Cemerson), strategies have been implemented that not only enhance citizen services but also encourage investment and economic development in the state.

“At the start of my administration, we were ranked 20th nationwide. Today, thanks to coordinated and consistent work, Sonora is number one on the northern border and ninth at the national level,” he stated.

This progress reflects Governor Durazo’s commitment to working closely with municipalities, business chambers, unions, and the academic sector, strengthening a strategy that delivers tangible benefits for Sonoran residents. These include more efficient processes for obtaining documents such as birth certificates, school diplomas, vehicle revalidation, driver’s licenses, and tax payments.

Along the northern border, Sonora leads ahead of Tamaulipas, Nuevo León, Chihuahua, Baja California, and Coahuila. Nationally, it ranks ninth, just behind Puebla, Yucatán, Querétaro, Aguascalientes, Veracruz, Jalisco, Colima, and Mexico City.
