Government of Sonora supports the second generation of Sonoran talent heading to Taiwan

The Government of Sonora, through the Council for Sustainable Development (CODESO), is coordinating the second generation of the academic mobility program to Taiwan, as part of the Human Talent axis of the Sonora Sustainable Energy Plan. Thirty young Sonorans were selected to join this program, which offers 100% scholarships.

With the goal of strengthening human talent in strategic sectors such as semiconductors, energy, and automation, Governor Alfonso Durazo is promoting international training programs that prepare young people to lead the state’s economic and sustainable development.

This second generation is made up of 12 women and 18 men from 15 higher education institutions across the state, including:

  • Universidad de Sonora (Hermosillo and Navojoa campuses)
  • UniSierra
  • Unikino
  • Universidad Estatal de Sonora
  • Instituto Tecnológico de Sonora
  • Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (Tecnológico de Monterrey)
  • Institutos Tecnológicos de Hermosillo and Nogales
  • Institutos Tecnológicos Superiores de Cajeme and Cananea
  • Universidades Tecnológicas de Hermosillo, Guaymas, Nogales, and San Luis Río Colorado

The selected participants underwent a rigorous, merit-based evaluation process that included a review of academic records, English proficiency, essays, interviews, and psychometric testing. They are now about to begin a training phase prior to their departure, scheduled for September.
