Government of Sonora hosts technology forum on semiconductors; CODESO participates with key presentations

With the goal of establishing a strategic agenda that integrates innovation, sustainability, and the development of specialized talent, the Council for Sustainable Development (CODESO) participated in the Sonora Tech Forum “Semiconductors and The Future of Energy.” This event, organized by the Government of Sonora, brought together experts, industry leaders, government representatives, researchers, students, and academics from technological and polytechnic universities across the country.

CODESO’s participation reaffirms its role as a driving force behind the Sonora Sustainable Energy Plan, promoting initiatives that strengthen the energy transition and the development of capabilities in strategic sectors such as semiconductors and electromobility, in line with Governor Alfonso Durazo’s vision to position Sonora as an innovation hub with global reach.

The forum, held on June 3 and 4, featured keynote lectures and panel discussions with participants from states including Nayarit, Baja California, Chihuahua, Querétaro, Aguascalientes, Jalisco, and Guerrero, as well as from academic institutions in the United States, who shared experiences and perspectives to enhance the region’s competitiveness.

As part of the event, Dr. Diego Alberto Avilés Quintanar, Executive Coordinator of the Council for Sustainable Development of the State of Sonora, participated in the panel discussion “Opportunities and Needs: Plan Sonora – Plan Mexico,” held on Wednesday, June 4, from 12:00 to 12:40 p.m. in Room A of the San Sebastián Hotel in Hermosillo. This session, organized by the Secretariat of Education and Culture, served as a strategic space to connect education, industry, and government, fostering talent and innovation.

The invitation to this intersectoral dialogue highlights the importance of strengthening institutional collaboration and aligning efforts across the educational, governmental, and industrial sectors to drive the sustainable development of Sonora.
