Business and employment growth in Sonora driven by governor Durazo’s economic leadership

With the goal of strengthening economic dynamism in the state, Governor Alfonso Durazo Montaño is implementing actions and public policies that promote the growth of internal consumption and the development of small businesses in Sonora.

The state leader noted that, according to the Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Geografía (INEGI), in March 2025, retail sales in the state grew by 3.4 percent year-over-year, accompanied by a 0.9 percent increase in employment and an improvement in real wages—reflecting a sustained recovery of the local economy.

“One of the pillars of this recovery has been the work of Financiera para el Desarrollo Económico de Sonora (Fideson), which has strengthened its strategy of accessible financing for entrepreneurs and small businesses,” he emphasized.

Durazo Montaño highlighted that through preferential-rate loan programs, Fideson has helped hundreds of businesses consolidate their operations, expand production capacity, and create new jobs.

During the first months of 2025, Fideson has issued over three million pesos in loans, primarily directed toward women entrepreneurs, youth, and family-run businesses in both rural and urban areas. It has also enhanced its financial training programs and technical support services to ensure beneficiaries have the tools needed to sustain and grow their ventures.

Through these efforts, the Government of Sonora reaffirms its commitment to inclusive economic development and to strengthening the domestic market as a platform for improving the well-being of Sonoran families.
